Entries are now open for the 2026 Recofloor Awards

The Recofloor Awards include recognition Certificate Awards for which all members are assessed automatically and acclaimed Awards Categories for which members who meet the criteria are able to submit an entry for a chance to win one of these awards.

For our Awards Categories, simply check you meet the criteria and complete the entry form below. You can enter multiple categories to maximise your chances of success.

Until then, you can read about our awards below to see how you could be a future winner. Note that the categories listed are those for the most recent awards – we do occasionally make changes.

Friday 20th March was the last day for members to submit their entries to the Recofloor Awards. We have received a fantastic set of entries, and are now ready to commence the judging process.

The shortlisted entrants will be contacted via email in April and winners will be announced via social media.

The shortlisted entrants will be invited to attend our 15th year anniversary celebratory event at The Belfry Hotel & Resort on Friday 25th April. At the event,  winners will be recognised and celebrated.

Certificate Awards for which all members are assessed

Gold, Silver and Bronze certificate awards

Our Gold, Silver, and Bronze Certificate Awards reward tonnages collected. No entry form needed – all members are automatically assessed. Thresholds for the different awards levels are set each year based on the total amount collected by all members during the past year. To see previous awards winners and the thresholds click here.

Greatest Improver

Our Greatest Improver Award recognises year-on-year growth in tonnages collected, with awards for the top three performers. Again, all members are automatically assessed. A trophy is presented to 1st place winner.

Categories Awards for entries

Those who enter any of the below categories will also be assessed towards a chance to win one of our two most prestigious awards – The Longstanding Award and the Recognition Award. These awards recognise and celebrate continued commitment of those who have made a significant difference to the scheme in the last 5 years.

Contractor of the Year

The Contractor of the Year category recognises companies or flooring contractors that demonstrate commitment to the Recofloor scheme by consistently collecting and storing material in accordance with the specifications, providing training for those involved, and engaging with the Recofloor team to guarantee smooth collections.

CLOSED

– You are a main contractor or a flooring contractor.
– You booked collections with Recofloor from your premises or from a project site during 2025.
– You returned good quality vinyl that was free from contamination and suitable for recycling, using the appropriate recycling containers.
– Your company provides training to those involved in the waste collection process and ensures that they are aware of the Recofloor specifications.
– Your business is striving to improve sustainability.

Project of the Year

Our Project of the Year Award is designed to give credit to a project or worksite (of any size) on which Altro or Polyflor flooring has been used in conjunction with Recofloor.
Winning this award gives you the perfect opportunity to highlight your recycling efforts for successfully deploying the scheme at a project site, helping with waste management reducing the project’s carbon footprint and allows you to boost your profile by demonstrating sustainability best practice to clients and the wider industry.

CLOSED

– You were involved with the project.– The project used Recofloor and either Altro or Polyflor flooring.
– The project either had direct collections, or the material was gathered and brought back to premises or dropped off at a Recofloor drop-off site during 2025.
– Site operatives and members of staff involved with the Recofloor scheme were aware of its presence on site, the specifications, and the waste collection service.
– You returned good quality vinyl free from contamination and suitable for recycling, using the appropriate recycling containers.
– If collections were from site, good communication was kept for the duration of the project to guarantee smooth running of the collection service.

You can enter as many projects that fit the criteria as you wish. However, only one entry is permitted per project.

No winner will be chosen if no suitable entries are received.

Best Newcomer

The Best Newcomer category rewards new members who embrace the scheme by integrating Recofloor as part of their work practice and collect good quality material for recycling. The judges will be looking at tonnages collected, adherence to the specifications, and passion and enthusiasm for recycling. The award can be presented to either a company or individual, and there may be more than one winner.

– You registered with Recofloor between July 2023 and June 2024 and maintained collections through 2025.
– You actively engage with the scheme by promoting Recofloor across the business.– You actively seek to deploy the scheme in your day-to-day work.
– You have a positive attitude towards recycling generally.
– You have returned good quality vinyl free from contamination and suitable for recycling, using the appropriate recycling containers.

Distributor of the Year

Flooring distributors are essential to the success of Recofloor. By setting up drop-off points, they make it possible for small volumes of vinyl flooring to be bulked up, reducing carbon emissions and waste sent to landfill, and so making the wider supply chain more environmentally friendly.
Our Distributor of the Year category looks to recognise distributor efforts to promote the drop-off points to flooring contractors and fitters, engage scheme users to maximise recycling, and encourage adherence to the specifications.  

CLOSED

– You are a flooring distributor running a Recofloor drop-off point.
– Members of staff are aware of the presence of Recofloor on site, its specifications, and the waste collection service.
– Material collected during 2025 was good quality vinyl suitable for recycling obtained from local contractors or fitters, as well as your own offcuts/roll-ends.
– You actively promote Recofloor to customers.
– Your collections run smoothly and good communication has been established with the Recofloor team and throughout your business.
– Your business takes sustainability seriously.

Only one entry per branch is permitted.

Drop-off site user of the Year 

The Drop-off Site User of the Year award recognises a flooring contractor or fitter who has regularly taken vinyl for recycling to a Recofloor drop-off point at a participating flooring distributor and has shown commitment to meeting the Recofloor material specification.

Nominations will be accepted from both drop-off site users themselves and from flooring distributors on their behalf.

CLOSED

The entrant or nominee must:

– Be a flooring contractor or independent fitter.
– Have provided good quality vinyl that meets Recofloor specifications.
– Have used their local flooring distributor for disposal of the waste vinyl throughout 2025.
– Have kept good communication and a smooth relationship with their local distributor in relation to Recofloor.
– Actively promote and use the scheme when possible.
– Have a positive attitude towards improved sustainability.

Recofloor Champion


Our Recofloor Champion category recognises individuals who champion the scheme by advocating its use and go the extra mile to ensure the scheme is used correctly.
Entries can be for an individual from your company or for someone you worked with on a work project who actively embraced the scheme by supporting the Recofloor ethos and maintaining a positive attitude towards recycling, so setting an example to others.

CLOSED

The entrant or nominee must:

– Be part of a flooring supply chain business or a flooring specifier.– Have a role within your business or have worked with you on a shared project in relation to Recofloor.
–Be actively engaged with Recofloor, and have participated in collections during 2025.
– Have a positive attitude towards recycling generally.
– Have helped ensure material collected meets specifications and is put in the appropriate recycling containers.

The winners for the 2023 Awards were announced on 28th March.
