This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Veitchi Flooring, a Recofloor member demonstrating how practical action and strong partnerships can deliver real circular impact across the flooring industry.
Early this year, Veitchi took proactive steps to responsibly clear historical resilient flooring stock by putting reuse first, supporting education, and ensuring all remaining vinyl material was recycled through Recofloor, instead using traditional waste disposal routes.
Veitchi’s donation to Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, alongside welds and cardboard poles, allowed materials to be creatively reused in student projects with introducing future designers to circular thinking in a practical, engaging way.
Gray’s School of Art, part of Robert Gordon University, is one of Scotland’s oldest art institutions and ranks among the Top 20 Schools of Art and Design in the UK, making this a truly impactful collaboration.
A further three pallets of resilient flooring offcuts were delivered to the CITB National Construction College (NCC) in Inchinnan, where apprentices will use the materials to develop hands-on skills and real-world experience with supporting the next generation of flooring professionals.
To complete the process, eight pallets of vinyl offcuts were sent to Recofloor for recycling, ensuring the material remains within a circular supply chain. Through Recofloor, these offcuts will be transformed into new vinyl flooring and durable products such as traffic cones, reducing the need for virgin raw materials and saving valuable resources.
By choosing recycling over disposal, Veitchi’s is helping to cut carbon emissions, conserve resources, and support a more sustainable future for the flooring industry. This approach reflects a strong and consistent commitment to the environment. As a Recofloor member, Veitchi continues to lead by example with showing that sustainability in flooring isn’t just about reducing impact, but about doing the right thing, every time.
