Going for Gold ‘recycling’ success with Recofloor
A great example of this is Rudge Brothers and James Ltd, one of the UK’s premier floor coverings and hygienic wall cladding contractors.
Having won a Bronze Award in 2015, the Bristol-based company clinched a Silver Award and third place in the Greatest Improver category the following year.
Evidence of tangible improvement has inspired the commercial flooring specialist to ‘go for gold’ in 2017. Having fully embraced the Recofloor scheme, the management team is putting in place ongoing training for all its office-based staff and fitting teams to ensure full understanding of how it works.
This commitment includes inviting the Recofloor team to its Bristol headquarters for an overview of the scheme, crucially covering the specifications for uplifted waste vinyl flooring and installation offcuts. Meeting the correct specifications for what can – and cannot be accepted – is vital for maximising the materials’ recycling by Polyflor and Altro, which founded the scheme in 2009.
Since joining Recofloor in the early days, Rudge Brothers and James has incorporated the scheme into its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach and regularly offers the service to clients, particularly on larger projects.
All their fitters are given Recofloor bags to collect installation offcuts on site, which are then transferred to larger bulk bags at their premises prior to collection on a regular basis.
Recognising the importance of investing in its personnel, the company is also working towards ‘Investors in People’ accreditation over the coming months.
