Recofloor recently caught up with their recycling champions and award winners to see what they thought a couple of weeks on from their award wins:
Construction Company of the Year
The Apollo Group
The Apollo Group's Environmental and Sustainability Manager, Emily Henderson says: "Recofloor works very well and is very straightforward to use. Our contractors find it very useful as the bag don't take up much space and they can collect both uplifted material and off-cuts as they work."
Distributor of the Year
Birch Distribution
Sales Director Gordon Hershaw says: "The message is getting through to contractors who realise that recycling offcuts will save on disposal costs and boost their 'green' credentials with councils. By sorting out collection logistics, we can make it easier for our customers to recycle."
Contractor of the Year and Greatest Improvement
Alan Parker Flooring
Founder Alan Parker comments: "I am an environmentalist and I think Recofloor is a brilliant idea. It should have been started years ago! By segregating the flooring waste for collection and not putting it in our main skip, we can reduce a lot of waste. It is an easy scheme to take part in and the Recofloor Awards encourages our floorers to keep up the good work."
Recofloor Champion
Sean Murphy, Wates Retail
Wates' Construction Manager Sean Murphy says: "Every floorer will know the importance of recycling. They tidy as they go and the scheme keeps the site tidy. It wins all round and I'm really quite proud!"
Best Newcomer
Headlam Scotland, Motherwell
Chris Pickles, Commercial Director, was delighted at Headlam's success as Best Newcomer to the scheme, having collected over 15 tonnes of material from customers and the Southern General refurbishment. He said, "Being awarded Best Newcomer is fantastic news and demonstrates our commitment to the scheme."
